Born in Saigon, raised in South Minneapolis, Bao Phi is a Vietnamese American poet, spoken word artist, children's book author, arts administrator, and single co-parent father. He used to be a community organizer, but now mostly organizes his book shelf and his cat's snacks. He is the recipient of many awards and fellowships, most recently, the 2024 MN Book Awards Kay Sexton Award.
