Cristina Oxtra

Cristina Oxtrab has earned a BA in journalism and an MFA in creative writing for children and young adults. Her debut picture book, What Lolo Wants, is a 2025 Minnesota Book Awards Finalist and a 2025 Society of Midland Authors Awards Honoree.

As a freelance author, She’s written 16 educational market books, both fiction and nonfiction, including biographies, chapter books, middle grade, and graphic novel. Cristina’s latest chapter books, Darkseid’s Food Feud, High Seas Hijinks, and Mother Mae-Eye’s Creature Calamity, part of DC’s Teen Titans Go! Multiverse Adventures series were published recently.

Cristina is a former print and broadcast journalist and former educator. She served as a public affairs officer in the U.S. Air Force, and she is a fulltime public relations professional. She also received a 2025 McKnight Artist & Culture Bearer Fellowship Honorable Mention and is a member of the MN BIPOC Kidlit Creators collective.
